  Design Conditions for 2 Section of Bucharest Metro Line 5

  Bucharest City Metropolitan Area has in excess of 2,05 million people. In the prepara- tion of global development for Bucharest metro transport, the first step was the identification of methods of increasing the share of Bucharest metro transport system, for increase in performanc- es under the specific circumstances that the urban public transport involves. One of the main strategies which have been considered in the preparation of the metro and development directive is expansion of the existing metro system. The developing of the new Metro Line 5 in the near future will follow: Drumul Taberei – Pantelimon (West-East link), 17-km long, 23 stations, 2 depots. This paper will highlight the preliminary conditions in urban area, necessary for the design of Sec- tion 2 Universitate – Pantelimon: 8 km in length, 10 stations and 1 depot, connecting the city cen- ter with the West part of the city, commissioning up to 2020, now under design.
