  Tunnel Baukau - crossing a railway embankment with low overburden

  An approx.. 740 m long trough and tunnel construction is to be built at the intersection „Autobahnkreuz Herne“. The new route crosses a railway embankment. The 60 m long tunneling through the railway embankment is to be executed with a protection of a piperoof. The piperoof consists of 21 steelpipes (d=1,6 m). The pipe jacking was proceeded „under rolling wheel“ with an overburden of only 2,5m. As a precaution the inhomogeneous material of the railway embankment had to be stabilized by injection measures. The tunnel excavations under the piperoof are to be performed with 5 m pulls, corresponding to the tunnel block length. During the whole construction project an extensive monitoring by measuring techniques are proceeded.
