  Disassembly in Mechanised Headrace Tunnel for the Uma Oya Project, Sri Lanka

  The breakthrough of the Headrace tunnel in the Uma Oya project done on October 2019, which face a lot of challenges and unforeseeable conditions of 15.4 km. The tunnel excavated by 2 hard rock double shield TBMs which excavated upward & downward without any middle access. One of the TBMs excavated more than 10 km upward and the other one excavated remains parts downward. The plan and location of disassembly also was a big challenge during the decision of the last point. This paper will review the underground disassembly methodology with a special review of the technical, risk assessments, and technics and overcoming to the underground disassembly methodology.
