The Stade de France underground station (SDF) is one of the 68 stations of the Grand Paris Express metro project. The design and construction of the station is shared between two separate projects: Line 16 and Line 15-East. Indeed, this station belongs, functionally speaking, to Line 15 but is to be crossed by Line 16 TBM drive. Initially, the interface was handled this way: the Line 16 contractors build the underground infrastructure in bottom-up (diaphragm walls and raft), then the TBM goes through the empty station and finally the Line 15 contractors carry on with the internal structures and all equipment. However, since 2018, the two projects do not have the same time constraints. The Line 16 is committed to a commissioning for the 2024 Olympic Games whereas the Line 15-East was first expected for 2025 and then postponed to 2030. This shifting commanded to reconsider the allotment and the phasing. This article presents the evolution of the project and the challenges the engineers had to face in order to find the optimal interface scheme taking into account the contractual and technical constraints.
