Structural noise and third parties when TBM-tunnelling in urban areas
This paper describes how tunnelling in urban areas poses challenges with respect to structural noise and risk of limited TBM operation time. The ongoing construction of the tunnel section of The Follo Line Project requires many considerations as the tunnel boring machines work their way through several densely populated areas with occasional limited overburden. The structural noise generated by the machines requires mitigation measures for nearby residents. The planning of these measures, as well as communication strategy to both residents and local authorities, are presented here. The Follo Line Project has cooperated closely with the Arna Bergen Project – also a Bane NOR project and their experiences and data are included in this discussion.Recipient :
