Effects of ground water pressure on the surrounding of cross passage openings through segmental concrete linings
The main tunnels of the Follo Line Project will be built by shielded TBMs using a water tight segmental lining, while the most of the cross passages are foreseen to be drained. The segment ring and the collar, which supports the opening of the segmental lining, will constitute an undrained lining, but the ground water pressure in the rock mass around will be modified by the water flow towards the cross passage. This paper presents the investigation of ground water pressure behind such linings in hard rock environment, within the framework of the Follo Line Project, between Oslo and Ski (Norway). Several numerical models were carried out to study the effect of the ground water pressure behind the rings and collar.
