Influence of Structural Opening on the Behavior of Existing Structures
When creating an opening in a sidewall of an existing cut-and-cover tunnel, safety verification should be carried out for fear of decrease in rigidity of the node connecting the upper slab and the sidewall. The decrease in the rigidity of the node connecting the upper slab and the sidewall results in an increase in vertical displacement along the upper slab span, and for this reason, the inner side of upper slab may require reinforcement with steel plates, carbon fiber, etc. However, what is actually seen is that around the opening, the upper slab displacement is limited by shear flow created longitudinally to the tunnel. In this paper we propose, by means of three dimensional FEM analysis, an opening width with which no reinforcement is required.Recipient :
