  New innovative system for layer thickness control on Normet spray mobile

  Non-contact measurement systems allow measuring the layer thickness in near real-time without personnel entering the sprayed area. Two main questions must be answered on-site: Is there enough or even too much sprayed concrete applied on the tunnel wall? Applying the targeted layer thickness is important regarding the safety during the construction phase and the future stability of the concrete lining. Another aspect that can be improved with the measurements, is the goal of the tunnelling company, not to “waste” concrete. Amberg Technologies AG and Normet Oy have focused on the development of a new innovative measurement system which allows checking the sprayed concrete application on a complete area instantly after spraying and visualizing the results in an easy to understand user interface.
