Population growth in most cities leads to increase in demand of implementing surface and subsurface infrastructures. Tunnel excavation causes the deformation in surface and subsurface infrastructures. In addition, existence of structures takes effect on the movements of ground which are occurred by the tunnelling. Therefore, evaluation of the interaction between tunnel and surface structures, in terms of the surface structures effects on the settlement and displacement rate due to the tunnelling, is special importance. In recent decades, researchers have focused on the quite a few different factors in their studies. Accordingly, this article has attempted to investigate the effects of dimensionless geometric parameters of structures on the settlement, and on the ground surface displacement curves. Duo to the three dimensional nature of tensions distribution, one of the numerical studies method, which means finite element method (FEM), was used. Based on the results of the numerical modelling, increases in width to length ratio of the structures, cause to increases in settlement of ground surface. Also, the results show that change in the height to width ratio of structures, has not necessity altered in the settlement and the displacement amount. Moreover, with reduces in height to length ratio of structures, no major changes had been seen in the horizontal and vertical displacement curves. As a result, evaluating the geometric parameters of the structures, especially width to length ratio of the structures, in designing of the urban tunnelling projects, is so important.
