It is the largest in the world that the mileage and construction scale of new highway tunnels of China Safety problem of tunnel structure has been more and more emphasized heavily. Based on construction experience, long term safety of highway tunnel is mainly depending on technical status of supporting and lining. Nevertheless, the technical status evaluation has long been based on technicians’ experiential judgment which is highly subjective. This article references existing research results, adopt matter-element theory, fuzzy sets theory and information entropy theory, build a fuzzy matter-element evaluation model based on entropy weight, and introduce this method to tunnel construction. The article is aimed at building a scientific evaluation method of tunnel structure technical status to provide decision-making basis of tunnel completion acceptance, maintenance and reinforcement.
