The Galgenbuck Tunnel project is located in the canton of Schaffhausen in northern Switzerland. The tunnel is intended to relieve the district of Neuhausen of the commuter through traffic. The extension of the motorway connection Schaffhausen Süd and the Galgenbuck Tunnel will connect the region of Klettgau, which lies to the west of Neuhausen, to the N4 motorway without a cross-ing. In 1970, the project was listed in the master plan of the canton of Schaffhausen, in 2005 the Fed-eral Council approved the project, for which the Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication (UVEK - Umwelt, Verkehr, Energie und Kommunikation) finally granted the planning permit in 2011. The preparatory and land clearing work started in February 2011; after securing the precut at Engi in a separate contract section, the first blast for the excavation was carried out in July 2013.
