  Use of thermography for tunnel-inspection

  Today, machine vision, especially laser scanning, is already widely used for the inspection of tunnels. Thermal imaging provides additional, valuable information for determining the structural condition of tunnels. This paper covers an approach for integration of thermography into a laser scanning system. It presents key aspects of a scanner system with integrated thermal imaging: The scan method, operation of the system in the field, characteristic samples of data and evaluation methods. The benefit of information contributed by thermography is discussed based on examples.
