A Simplified Method for Calculation of Allowable Longitudinal Dif ferential Settlement of Immersed Tunnel
The construction condition of HongKong-ZhuHai-Macao Immersed Tunnel is very complicated of deep water more than 40 meters, soft soil layers more than 40 meters and 20 meters sedimentation loads. There are almost 5 types of foundation solutions along tunnel axis. How to determine the suitability of foundation solutions? Immersed tube tunnel is a type of underground structure which is sentisitive to differential settlement. Among the some of the completed immersed tube tunnels at home and abroad, cases of leaking tunnel and structural cracking due to excessive differential settlements have taken place. Thus longitudinal differential settlement control is a key technical issue of immersed tube tunnels. The precondition of control of longitudinal differential settlement is the need of defining corresponding control standards, namely the determination of the value of allowable longitudinal differential settlement. The value of allowable longitudinal differential settlement determines both the forces of immersed tunnel and service performances and the soil treatment solution and corresponding construction control requirement and is the link connecting tunnel element configuration, foundation solution and construction control as well as an important parameter reflecting the interaction between the structure and foundation. The load which an immersed tube tunnel is subjected to is a matter of high order superstatic of the interactions among covering loads, tunnel structure and foundation.
