With rapid development of underground rail transport in China, effect of foundation pit excavation on underlaid metro tunnel has been increasingly concerned since the 21st century. The excavation inevitably leads to the upheaval of the tunnel. If the deformation values of tunnel exceed their allowable values, the safe performance of tunnel will be affected. Many scholars carried out some researches on the effect of foundation fit excavation on existing tunnel in the world. For example, Zhang et al.(2011) considered different tunnel diameter, distance between tunnel and pit, and geological conditions, and used a two-stage analysis method to analyse the effect of foundation pit excavation on tunnel at the Zhabei district of Shanghai city. Jianget al.(2013) used Mindlin theory to calculate displacements and internal forces of the existing tunnel caused by an excavationnearby, Huang et al.(2012) used Kerr model calculation the longitudinal deformation of existing tunnel. However, they did not consider soil’s nonlinear soil behavior, and only foundation fit with regular shape was considered. Based on a collection of measure data from 14 cases, Ganget al.(2013) presented an empirical formula to predict maximum lining displacement value that caused by excavation. Zheng et al. (2012) suggested that Section ballast, part-excavation and information construction is an effectively way to control the uplift deformation of tunnel. Besides, other researchers such as Yu et al.(2007), Huang et al.(2012), Xie et al.(2014),Gao et al.(2010),Li et al.(2011), Ng CWW et al.(2013) andXia et al.(2013) also successfully conducted studies on the effect of foundation pit excavation on the tunnel nearby. Based on Chegongmiao transportation junction project of Shenzhen Metro, China, mechanical behavior of Shenzhen subway line 1 overlaid by a pit excavated for the eastern air duct was analysed. ABAQUS software was adopted to investigate the effect of pit excavation on the subway tunnel and evaluate effectiveness of the jet-grouting pile used for reinforcing the ground around the excavation.
