  New Developments for Roadheader Navigation

  The paper describes latest developments in the field of roadheader navigation and control. Next generation roadheaders incorporate high degrees of automation and allow remote data access if networked. To enable high-precision cutting and optimal roadheader use, the continuous measurement, processing and use of the absolute 3D tunnel position and orientation data of the machine and its cutting tools is indispensable. In the contribution, three particular technical innovations of Geodata and Sandvik are described that will significantly improve future roadheader navigation and operation.
