For the tunnel construction, mooring is one of the most important procedures before the tunnel immersion. For the cross-sea project, the effects of swell, current and wind seas on the mooring system must be investigated in detail. This is achieved by using an approach of combined scale model tests and numerical simulations. Model tests for tunnel mooring were carried out in a towing basin. The results of motions and cable tensions for tests and simulation were compared with each other, so that the numerical model can be modified. Finally, based on the investigation of environmental parameters, a large number of simulations for the tunnel mooring under different wind, wave and current conditions were carried out. Then the operational limits of the tunnel element immersion were evaluated, which provides a basis for the establishment of operational time window.
