Cessation, taking place often in tunnel construction due to various reasons, usually cause tunnel collapse in weak ground if the cessation time is long. Dongkeling tunnel on GuizhouGuangxi line being as the engineering background, the 3D viscoelasto-plastic rheological model was established to find the evolving rules of deformation at critical locations such as the tunnel crown, arch springing and points ahead of the work face under two different water content. The indoor rheological experiment and back analysis were performed to obtain the rheological model and its parameters of the ground. The calculation results show that the stability of tunnel work face is more dangerous than the cross section, the longitudinal deformation develops nearly linearly with time after cessation and the water content of the surrounding rock has a great influence on the tunnel stabillity for the water sensitive ground.
