During the design phase for the new tunnel of high speed railway connecting stations of Atocha and Chamartín in Madrid (Spain), ground treatments to mitigate potential induced subsidence on the nearby structures were established. During the construction several modifications were carried out on site and found the good behaviour of excavation and the response of the ground. Protection systems adapting initial forecasts to the reality of the work executed. This paper deals with the considerations about the approach between the project phase and the performances that were finally made during the construction phase.
