Road tunnels in Colombia: Past, Present and Future
Colombia is one of the countries in the world with the highest projection in terms of construction of road tunnel and it is estimated that by the end of the 2020´s decade, have been built around 300 kilometers of them. This paper describes briefly the history of Colombia road tunnels, with special focus on the main geotechnical developments that have been made, especially the selection of methods of excavation and support and finally, the criteria for the selection of the cast in situ concrete lining vs. sprayed concrete lining.
