  Repair of the Rive-de-Gier tunnel with the Thin Shell Waterproofing solution TECTOPROOF

  The Rive-de-Gier tunnel, in France, was damaged by water leaks and concrete spalling due to corrosion of reinforcement bars. Both disorders were sources of risks for users and required frequent safety operator interventions. Repairing and sealing works were performed by means of a Reinforced Liquid Sealing System made of epoxy resin reinforced with glass fibre fabric, applied on the tunnel intrados. This worksite is an experimental site of the “ECOMINT” project: “Waterproofing Tunnels by Thin Shells”. This innovation project was launched in 2012, after a tender for innovation from the French Ministry of Environment. The Rive-de-Gier repair project was shortlisted in 2016 for the ITA Awards.
