  The longest freeway tunnel maintenance in Taiwan

  Taiwan’s currently operating highway tunnels with length of more than 1 kilometer have already reached 112 Km, of which freeway tunnels account for 65 Km. As the length of tunnel continues to increase, its inspection and maintenance become more and more important. The longest tunnel in Taiwan - Hsuehshan tunnel (the 12th longest in the world) will be introduced at first. Then it is explained the regular inspections, detailed inspections, long-term monitoring, and maintenance management of Hsuehshan tunnel. There are some innovatively developed technology like shaft lining image scanning system and portable tunnel inspection system. It is also illustrated how to bring the long-term monitoring system into the modern tunnel maintenance system.
