  Technical risk management of Line 16 Lot 1 in the Grand Paris Express project

  This article presents the technical risk management of the Line 16 Lot 1 in the Grand Paris Express project, one of the largest metro projects underway in the world. This lot includes the construction of 5 metro stations, 20 annex structures, 20 km of tunnels and subway equipment, it has an estimated cost of about 1.84 billion euros. The project is being undertaken to a tight construction schedule (due to be commissioned for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris) with many technical interfaces. In accordance with the specifications described in the French General Specifications for Public Works 69 - Underground works, technical risk management was applied throughout the whole project to manage the technical risks such as geotechnical risks, structural damage to neighbouring buildings and assets and environmental protection.
