Railway tunnel Dejvice – Veleslavin is a part of a wider railway upgrade scheme linking the city centre of Prague and all three Prague metro lines with Vaclav Havel airport Prague and the city of Kladno. This paper maps the bumpy route to the selection of the preferred railway alignment option which started in 1999. The objectives of this paper are to describe changes in people’s perception of urban planning and sustainable development over the time and how it was affecting the shape of this project. Subsequently it also describes the approach adopted to describe the phenomena of vibrations to the public. At the time of writing of this paper in May 2021 the preferred route alignment is getting its planning permission.
