  Ritom Power Plant Renewal with New Inclined Pressure Shaft

  Increasing capacity with new power plant facility to generate traction power and three-phase power - Ritom SA, a partner company of the canton of Ticino (25%), represented by Azienda Elettrica Ticinese (AET), and of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB, 75%) will replace the Ritom power plant between Ritom lake/reservoir and the village of Piotta (Switzerland), which has been in operation since 1920. The new power plant will be composed of an underground waterway system, a new powerhouse building and a new re-regulating reservoir. Construction began in the fall of 2018 and commissioning is scheduled to be completed in early 2025. The total investment for the concession and power plant renewal project amounts to CHF 325 million.
