Segmental tunnel linings constructed in the ground near the sea need attention with regard to the deterioration of reinforced concrete segments caused by salt damage. For segments seriously affected by salt damage, a repair method that replaces part of the deteriorated segments with a new material to recover its durability is used. However, the effect of this method on the load-bearing capacity of the segment had been unknown. The objective of this research is to clarify the load-bearing capacity of a reinforced concrete segment repaired partly with a different material. A specimen repaired with our standard repair method was prepared, and the bending fracture and shear fracture tests were conducted. These test results were compared with the result of an unrepaired specimen. It is shown that a repaired specimen had no reduction in terms of either bending strength or shear strength but that the shear fracture mode changed due to the effect of repair. It is shown that our standard repair method does not reduce the load-bearing capacity of reinforced concrete segments.
