Reliability analysis of early age concreteliner subjected to blast vibrations
Early age concrete has a limited resistance to vibrations, and lasting implications for the entire lifetime of the liner occur when this resistance is exceeded. This paper presents a method to assess the probability of cracking in early age concrete liners subject to blasting vibration that allows for the optimization of construction time while ensuring an adequate performance. The method is based on a Monte Carlo simulation of the evolution of the concrete resistance with time as a function of the mix and environmental variables such as concrete temperature. The probability of cracking is assessed by comparing the age-dependent resistance to the expected dynamic excitation. The method also highlights key variables in the design and construction planning of concrete liners for improved cost savings and overall structural reliability.Recipient :
