Performance of rock bolt with differe nt material by on-site and model experiments
Although the tensile and shear resistance performances of rock bolts have been extensively studied, other performance measures such as compression and erosion resistance are required to be examined. Various types of rock bolts have been developed recently; however, owing to the lack of experience in tunneling and data on the use of support members in design and construction, it is difficult to decide which type of rock bolt to adopt. To clarify the performance index of bolting, in addition to the tensile capacity, in this study, on-site pull-out tests and model experiments are conducted considering the effects of both ground loosening and bolt fixation length to gain the basic understanding of the mechanical behavior of the rock bolt. The results indicate that compressive force in the bolt may occur under certain conditions and the effect of fixation conditions may be significant when materials having a low elastic modulus are used.Recipient :
