Hydrogeology and Grouting - An Overview for a Swedish Tunnel Project
Key to climate resilience, sustainable underground structures and related innovation is an understanding of your project site. An integrated approach to tunnelling, hydrogeology and grouting (sealing) allows for a description of geometry, properties and behaviour of the system. Grouting data (water loss measurements and grout take) provide guidance to grouting design and monitoring of hydraulic head in boreholes reflects the natural system behaviour and the effect of grouting (sealing). Swedish infrastructure projects (e.g. tunnels) commonly need a permit from the Swedish Land and Environment court. The conditions in this permit (environment court ruling) can, for example, describe the groundwater discharge (outflux) that the project should contain, and that infiltration should be carried out if needed to counteract an adverse groundwater impact. A combined analysis of impact, effect and consequence is of importance to protect the environment and improve our engineering performance.Recipient :
