Greenhouse gas reduction in tunnel construction Chances and Possibilities
The global megatrends of climate change, resource efficiency, alternative energy and transparency are changing construction practices worldwide. Approximately 8 % of global greenhouse gas emissions result from cement production for concrete construction projects generating a clear need to reduce this impact. Tunnel projects which are highly dominated by concrete or cement, will require a joint effort of owners, designers, construction companies and suppliers. The challenge lies in all these stakeholders enabling the use of new solutions, possibly not be covered by established standards, and including required sustainable elements for all projects to meet this important goal of reducing CO2 impact.Recipient :
