  In the Greater Paris area, there is a transition in the underground uses, which is developing with a double-policy: A renewal policy of existing undergrounds with experiments in new uses within Paris Intramuros ; A policy of deepening underground potential with the dynamics brought about by the transition of urban mobility and the Greater Paris project. The objective of this study is to include underground urban thinking in the evolutionary history of Paris in order to grasp the extent of underground use from a pluriscalar perspective of projects ranging from the Paris of 1900 to the Greater Paris of tomorrow. Today, far from the ideology inherited from imperialist policies and the exploitation of the underground for different purposes, the urban inclusion of the underground in land use planning takes a completely different turn in the Anthropocene era. Through the study of concrete examples and testimonies from a multidisciplinary panel of actors actively working on these issues, the ambition of this research is to question the relevance, legitimacy and balance of the use of this available urban matter in the context of Greater Paris.
