Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) is the first planned subway project in the Republic of the Philippines, which is planned to be constructed in Metro Manila. This project is funded by Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) and is considered as the project that will have a huge impact to Metro Manila in terms of upgrading the transportation standards. Upon completion, this will have an operational length of about 33.1 km which will have 17 underground stations. Also, the MMSP will connect to another project through an elevated station. As of May 1st 2021, the design of the project is ongoing which is subject to be completed by the end of 2021. Since, this is still in the design phase, this paper will summarize the general information of the projects and the issues and challenges faced towards the design completion process. The outputs of the paper can be used during the planning stage of subway projects in developing countries.
