Establishing A Chloride Protection System for Subway Rectangular Tunnels
Many subway tunnels near tidal rivers are reported to have chloride induced deterioration, with the damage often found recurring where previously repaired. This project studied chloride induced deterioration of tunnels, focusing on the influence range of chloride ions contained in leakage water, and established examination and repair methods to prevent damage recurrence. Sections near rivers or in similar environments are first extracted and sorted by the chloride ion concentration in leakage water to determine whether to apply chloride protection. Exact areas to be repaired are then determined by a silver nitrate solution spray method which turns concrete surface white where affected. Repairs to be performed are determined by damage severity: surface impregnation alone or combined with deteriorated concrete removal, cathodic protection and patch repair. The subway tunnel chloride protection system thus established by combining the two flows will help quickly determine where and how to protect subway tunnels from chloride attack, including preventive maintenance.Recipient :
