Apice-Hirpinia section is part of Napoli-Bari High Speed Railway new infrastructure intended to receive investments to modernize and facilitate people's transportation for a total extension of approximately 18.7 kilometres. This study includes analytical characteristic-curve results compared with numerical modelling using FLAC. In addition, it considers a mechanized advancement (Tunnel Boring Machine - EPB), instead of conventional methods. This work is part of the II Level Master Thesis developed at Politecnico di Milano, in 2019. Main values of interest include axis-symmetric study to evaluate shield and lining stresses, displacements; strata plasticity and pressure balance for EPB machine; 2D stress and displacement analysis prior and after lining; TBM thrust force for excavation advancement.
