  Algiers Metro, El Harrach Centre Airport project, Extension E

  ABSTRACT: The extension of Line 1 of Algiers Metro (El Harrach Center - Houari Boumediene International Airport) is the first project in Algeria with a large diameter TBM. This project will connect the new airport with downtown. COSIDER Travaux Public awarded to SELI Overseas the TBM excavation project in early 2018. An EPB TBM built by CREG-WIRTH will excavate the tunnel. Boring diameter is 10.5 meters, inner diameter is 9.3 meter, total length is 9,560 km, with 9 stations and 10 ventilation shafts. The excavation activity is divided in two phases. The first drive from Oued Smar station till the Airport disassembling shaft (5680 m). The second drive (after TBM disassembling, transportation and assembling) from Oued Smar station till El Harrach station (3780 m). The tunnel will be lined with precast concrete segments, 45 cm thickness, Universal Ring 8+1 with a ring’s length of 1,8 m. The muck is extracted by continuous conveyor belts and MSV are used for segments and materials transportation.
