Paseo del Bajo is a vehicle urban artery locates at Puerto Madero´s heart in the Buenos Aires City, Argentina. Its main corridor is limited to heavy duty vehicles (even carrying dangerous goods). The characteristics of the intervention area and the impact of the execution of the work on the environment are described in this paper; hypothesis and boundary conditions; structural and road design criteria assumed; safety systems that were contemplated in the operation stage, in terms of the detection of incidents and their resolution; and ITS system and free flow payment system. A special mention about contract risk, and project division in three contracts. Some of the most important utilities that had to be removed or relocated will be explained, due to the challenging works that had to be made.
