Sustainable and Strategic Use of Underground Space - Ashram Underground Metro Station

Sustainable and Strategic Use of Underground Space - Ashram Underground Metro Station

A. Kumar / S. Patel

Initially a major portion of Ashram underground Metro Station including ancillary building was planned at a private land, but due to non-acquisition of private land because of litigation, Ashram station was redesigned by reducing the typical 265 meter length of station within an available land of 151 meters. Redesigning 265 meters length of original station box in a length of only 151 meter was a challenging job which has been done by introducing an additional floor between roof and concourse level i.e. Mezzanine level and by accommodating various operational and plant rooms efficiently. Ashram underground metro station is the wonderful example of Sustainable and strategic use of underground space.
