  Ground Improvement Applications for MRT Orange Line (East Section) Project

  The overview of ground improvement applications by jet grouting method for underground structures (underground stations and bored tunnels) between MRTA Station (OR14) and Pradit Manutham Station (OR15) of MRT Orange Line (East Section) project is presented in this paper. The main purposes of ground improvement are 1) to ensure water tightness for TBM break-in/break-out at stations 2) to control settlement along the bored tunnels in soft and medium clay and 3) to ensure safety during underground/underpinning construction. The effectiveness of ground improvement during the construction is monitored by the geotechnical instrumentation and the results are also discussed.
