  Instrumentation and Monitoring for MRT Orange Line (East Section) Project

  In the underground construction of MRT Orange Line (East Section) project, the instrumentation and monitoring works play an important role for construction safety control. The overview of instrumentation schemes for underground structures (i.e. underground stations, ventilation/intervention shafts, cut&cover tunnels, bored tunnels), underpinning structures and adjacent utilities/buildings are presented in this paper. Real-time monitoring using Database Management System (DMS) is developed to collect and interpret all monitoring data more efficiently. This system is linked to the construction activities and the early warning system. Real-time notifications can be sent to all concerned parties via Line application and e-mail when the monitoring data reached the control values (Alert, Alarm, Action level), therefore, prompt decision and proper countermeasures can be applied accordingly.
