The construction of utility tunnels network in Prague started in 1969 and it is enlarged by Hlávkův Bridge Collector now. This utility tunnel connects the already existing collector lines both on the left bank and right bank of the Vltava river and it makes permanent relocations of all utility networks installed on the Hlávka Bridge possible. The project of Hlávkův Bridge utility tunnel consists of the new driven line, two technical chambers, four shafts and a cut-and-cover utility tunnel on Štvanice Island in the middle of the Vltava river flow. The geological conditions on the site can be generally characterised as relatively complicated and very variable. The original morphology is disturbed by human activities around the area of the technical chamber TK 101 during the old arrangements of the both Vltava banks in past times. The aim of creating the 3D finite element method model was to define possible movements of the flush channel due to the excavation of the technical chamber TK 101. The flush channel is part of the old arrangements on the right bank of the Vltava river. The construction is consisted of double masonry arches. It was built in 1909 and the main purpose of the flush channel was to bring the water from the river to the new hydroelectricity plant in those days. The construction was built as the cut and cover tunnel. The overburden of the flush channel is as about 7 – 8 meters. No more detail information about the channel was available for the designer except of the cross section. The excavation of technical chamber TK 101 passes under the flush channel and that has to stay in operation during the whole time of excavation works. 3D geometric model had been prepared before its implementation into the Plaxis 3D geotechnical software. Both drained and undrained calculations were evaluated.
