Complex ventilation of the Brenner Base Tunnel during construction
The present paper documents design of ventilation and cooling during tunnel construction of the lot H41 Sillschlucht-Pfons of the -66km long Brenner Base Tunnel, between Austria and Italy. Challenging requirements result from the fact that the tunnel connects two countries with different regulations, from the extreme complexity of the construction site and from a number of interactions with other lots and external boundary conditions. Specifc ventilation and cooling schemes were developed for each relevant construction phase and merged into an overall scheme, which can be adapted to the evolution of the construction site and to variable boundary conditions. Safety is a key requirement also during construction. This was accounted for by means of specifc fre-ventilation scenarios.Recipient :
