Empirical correlations within TBM operation data. A case study
Abu Hamour (Musaimeer) Surface & Ground Water Drainage Tunnel – Phase I is a 9.5km long, 3.7m ID storm water tunnel. The excavation was carried out by two Earth Pressure Balance TBMs. Monitoring of the TBM excavation processes was provided in real-time by Herrenknecht made Operation and Guidance Systems. Results of borehole re-logging and shafts wall mapping have been presented to show how they correlate to TBM performance. The authors make an attempt to correlate common classification systems: Q and RMR for rock mass commonly found in Doha, Qatar. More rock properties and TBM operation data and charts have been discussed. The drive data collected by the TBM Data Acquisition and the Evaluation System were coupled with available information on rock mass properties, cleansed and completed with secondary variables. Correlations and explicable relations were investigated. Descriptive statistical analyses were performed to examine relations between observed TBM performance and operation and geotechnical parameters. For this purpose simple, interpretable linear regression models have been built.Recipient :
