Experimental Approach to Testing the Vibration on Excavation Machines and Proposal of Some Cuttability Indices
In this study, the machine vibration of mechanical excavators were ınvestıgated by means of force responses of conical pick. In this sense, some indices such as the ratio of peak cutting force to mean cutting force (FCp/ FCm), the ratio of peak cutting force to peak normal force (FCp / FNp), the ratio of mean cutting force to mean normal force (FCm / FNm) were analyzed and compared. In addition, the effect of rock strength on the ratio of FCp /d was examined. Moreover, some other cuttability indices, which are the ratio of cutting force to uniaxial compressive strength (FCp /σc) and the ratio of specific energy to compressive strength (SE/σC) were propounded. For this purpose, a number of samples were collected from different regions in China and the mechanical properties of the collected samples were initially determined. Then, a series of cutting tests in unrelieved cutting mode were conducted at the linear rock cutting machine. A conical pick was placed to the tool holder, in which cone angle of 80° and attack angle of 55° were applied. The tests were performed at depth of cuts ranging from 3 mm to 18 mm. In conclusıon, tool forces were measured and then specific energy was calculated. The relationships between the tool forces, rock strength, and cutting depth were investigated and some cuttability indices were purposed with the acquired data from linear cutting test rig.Recipient :
