  Dewatering or Pre-grouting, That is question

  Clients and consultants generally don’t intend to consider Pre-injection method generally in detail design to decrease bid price and force contractors to propose lower prices. However, most projects will be over costed due to tunneling downtime and dewatering costs including electrical power, equipment, piping and human resources. This paper evaluates all costs in a hard rock TBM project where was delayed and over costed because high water ingress volume, required time for supplying and installing dewatering equipment and imposed post injection and its costs whereas most costs would be eliminated if pre-injection had been considered.
