The present study presents the results of laboratory model tests to check the effect of 2-Arch tunnel construction on a pile supported bridge. A series of reduced scale model tests were carried out in the laboratory using a model reduced from a prototype tunnel case. The main focus of the test is to identify fundamental governing interaction mechanism of between the 2-Arch tunnel and the existing pile supported bridge. The results of indicate that the effect of the 2-Arch tunnel construction on the piled bridge is maximized when the tunnel is excavated immediately below a pile foundation.
