Optimization of Double-Track Tunnel Construction Technological Process for “Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya – Line 3” of St. Petersburg Subway
During construction of St. Petersburg subway system engineers from design and construction companies, through their joint efforts, perform continuous work of developing and application of modern technologies and mechanisms designed to facilitate work in underground conditions; decreasing costs of metro system construction; accelerate the performance of mining operations. At the same time both national developments and global trends in tunneling operations are considered.Tunnel excavation and construction of double-track tunnels using the tunnel boring machine with earth pressure balance (TBM EPB) is one of the modern technologies introduced by St. Petersburg designers and metro tunnelers. Development of solutions mentioned in this paper is caused by necessity to meet the terms of construction of “Line 3” segment set in the government contract that are 2.5 years with the length of 5.2 km.“Line 3” segment is constructed within the scope of transport infrastructure preparation for holding in 2018 FIFA Football World Cup. Technological Process of double-track tunnel construction using the same TBM for “Frunzensko - Primorskaya – Line 5” segment was consistent, because target construction term was 5 years with the length of 3.7 km.Due to limited time for construction of the “Line 3” segment, “Metrostroy” OJSC developed a new technological process of double-track tunnel construction. Construction schedule is reduced through parallel execution of operations for tunnel excavation, ventilation ceiling building, concrete basement construction, and railway equipment installation.Optimized process flow of double-track metro tunnel construction using TBM for St. Petersburg “Line 3” segment.1. Tunnel excavation, grouting (pumping of cement slurry into the gap between the lining and ground), lining installation were performed in parallel.2. Ventilation duct ceiling installation. Supply lines, reusable forms and reinforcement cages assembling, filling with concrete were done using specially designed support trailer No.4 that is hitch-towed by TBM and does not hinder movement of the multiservice vehicle (MSV) for TBM servicing.3.Recipient :
