In Korea, the infrastructures built from the 1970s to the 1980s during the economic growth period have been rapidly deteriorating, and it is recognized that safety-based repair as a break-down maintenance, the existing maintenance method, have limitation in using the infrastructure efficiently, safety and continuously. Therefore, the need for development of system that enables appropriate evaluation of structures and efficient asset management plan has become an issue. Currently, various research institutes in Korea are studying the asset management system about each type of structure and the ESCO Consultant & Engineers company is developing an asset management system using performance-based evaluation of underground structures and deterioration prediction. In this paper, the detailed performance evaluation capable of the deterioration prediction is introduced. The detailed performance evaluation is a technique to quantitatively evaluate the performance of the structure based on documents investigation and detailed inspection and predict deterioration of the structure. After the evaluation factors which are related to the structure are determined, the performance of the structure is calculated in accordance with evaluation criteria by performing a detailed performance evaluation on the factors. The performance is divided into the performance index about each performance item consisting of safety, durability and usability and the health index which means comprehensive performance, so that it is possible to manage by each performance item. Deterioration prediction curve, presented as a quadratic function of the performance against the time applying detailed performance evaluation to inspection and repair history of the structure. completed, is calculated by comprehensive analysis of design, construction and maintenance data and the performance reduction factor , acceleration of deterioration of the structure, is calculated by regression analysis of the performance history. The manager of the structure can establish an efficient asset management plan by planning inspection, repair to meet the maintenance level and the target life of the structure based on the deterioration prediction curve. In addition, if the historical data is accumulated over time, the accuracy of the deterioration prediction model will be continuously improved, and more reliable asset management will be possible.
