Stability analysis and optimum support design of tunnel No. 7 in Tariakdareh Karmozd coal mine using UDEC software
I Stability analysis and design of optimum support for underground structures are complicated issues due to various conditions in soil and rock types, geological structure, regional tensions, etc. So, it is necessary to use different methods to analysis the structure stability and incorporating engineering judgment to find the best support system. The aim of this research is stability analysis and optimum design of tunnel 7 Tarikdare coal mine in Iran which is located 17 kilometers far from Zirab city in Mazandaran province. The most important characteristic of the rock mass encountered in this tunnel are: high alteration, low strength and jointed rocks. The results gained from field investigation show that there are two joint sets in the area. Laboratory and field investigation were carried out in order to determine geomechanical parameters or mechanical and physical properties of rock. In this research, among numerical methods, the distinct element method was applied through the analysis, with this regard the UDEC software was utilized. The engineering rock mass classifications were also used and the results showed that the rock mass is classified as poor and loose in RMR and Q systems, respectively. Optimum support achieved from numerical analyses found as combination of rock bolt and shotcrete; four bolts with a diameter of 35 mm, length of 2.5m, spacing of 1.2m in roof and 1.5m in side walls. A 15-cm reinforced shotcrete is also designed to be applied in tunnel 7. Stability analysis, Support design, Tariakdareh-Karmozd, Shotcrete, UDEC Software.Recipient :
