  National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management is carrying out an examination into strategically maintain and renovate in the future of highway structures which are an important social capital. This report summarises the results of periodic inspection of road tunnels that under jurisdiction of the central government which was implemented in fscal years 2014 and 2015 by the ‘The Outline of Road Tunnel Periodic Inspection (National Highway and Risk Management Division, Road Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, June 2014)’, Regional Development Bureau across the nation from the point of view of maintenance or inspection methods’ advanced effectiveness and analyzes its outline and trends.
