TBM Performance Analysis in Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy Project
This study tries to present the correlation between penetration rate, thrust force and ground conditions with the excavation data from the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy hydro power project in Laos. The double shield machine is applied for the excavation of 11.5km length and 5.74m diameter headrace tunnel. The TBM operational performance is analyzed with correlating penetration, thrust force with RMR along 5.9km of tunnel alignment. Regression analysis shows the Specific Penetration (SP) has a tendency to decrease with increasing value of RMR. On the other hand, the Field Penetration Index (FPI) has a tendency to increase with increasing value of RMR.
