  Measure for heaving of roadbed in squeezing ground - Kyushu Shinkansen Nishikyushu line Tawarazaka tunnel

  Some of mountain tunnels suffer from heaving of roadbed after completion, and require some countermeasures. The cost of implementing countermeasures is usually higher for a tunnel in service than in construction. However it is difficult to predict and attend heaving of roadbed during a construction stage. This paper provides excavation approaches to inhibit heaving of roadbed after the completion and results of numerical analysis for the approaches.
